Former MLB player Matt Whiteside leads the ASP staff.
MATT WHITESIDE –Owner, Pitching – Over 6 years Major League Service Time throughout his 17 year professional baseball career. Matt graduated as a 3 Sport Letterman in 1986 from Charleston High School in southeast Missouri and graduated from Arkansas State University in 1990 with a Physical Education Degree, while also earning American South Conference Player of the year. Matt was the 25th Round Pick of the Texas Rangers in that same year and made his major league debut August 5, 1992 versus the Oakland Athletics. He Has pitched for seven Major League Organizations (Texas, Philadelphia, San Diego, Atlanta, Colorado, Toronto, and Pittsburgh) & Played one season in Japan for the Yokohama Baystars in 2003. During his professional career, he was a Double A All Star in 1992, a member of the American League West Division Champion Texas Rangers in 1996, a member of the National League East Division Champion Atlanta Braves in 2001,and a Triple A All Star in 2005 while setting the single season saves record with 38 that same year. Matt is also the Co-Founder of STL Gamers Baseball & the STL Gamers Pitching Coordinator. Matt is the Founder and Program Director of Mach One Pitching. He currently coaches 17U & 12U Gamers while also overseeing all Teams in the program.
SCOTT TERRY –Pitching – Scott retired from his instructional role in May 2019. He is still actively involved with the St. Louis Cardinals.
JAMES BEEVER – Pitching – James played Division 1 Baseball at Southeast Missouri State University. James played 7 years of Professional Baseball: Atlantic League, Northern League, American Association, Golden Baseball League, United Baseball League, Frontier League and several MLB Teams. He was the Olympic Russia Pitching Coach in 2007 and also coached in Area Code Games in Long Beach, CA (Chicago White Sox). James was a Scout for the Chicago White Sox 09-11 and coached Kaskaskia Junior College in 03-04. He owned and operated Impact Baseball Training (2002-2011) and created Fusion Pitching Technologies that used sensor data/biomechanics to understand pitching delivery (2012). James has coached travel baseball for the last 10 years and is a current coach with St Louis Gamers since 2014. James is the Lead Youth Mach One Pitching Instructor and also provides individual pitching lessons.
ANDY MARKS – Pitching – Andy was a freshman at the University of Kansas in 2006 when the Jayhawks won their first Big II Tournament Championship in school history. It was one of two NCAA Tournament appearances he made as a Kansas pitcher. In his first two seasons in Lawrence, Andy had an impressive 122 strike outs in 124 innings of work. He spent his summers in the esteemed Northwoods League, pitching for the Duluth Huskies. He compiled a 16-6 record, was named an All-Star in 2007, threw the first no-hitter in franchise history and had a sub-2.00 ERA in two NWL campaigns. Andy has taken his experiences to coaching and instruction. Andy is the Lead Instructor for the Mach One Pitching Program.
PRESTON BURNETT – Pitching -Preston graduated from Smyrna High School . He played 2 years at Volunteer State Community College and is a current collegiate pitcher. Preston joined the Mach One Pitching staff in 2020 and has trained both youth, Middle and High School Mach One players. He is actively coaching with the St. Louis Gamers and an active supporting instructor for both Youth, Middle & High School Mach One. Preston teaches individual pitching lessons to players of all ages.
JON HARRIS – Jon was born and Raised in St. Louis area. He Continued his baseball career at Missouri State University and was a Collegiate baseball All-American & MVC Pitcher of the year in 2015. In 2015 Jon was the 1st Rd draft pick by Toronto blue Jays. He has 7 years of minor league service time all the way up to AAA. Jon is available for lessons until February 2022.
KEVIN WHEELER– Hitting, Throwing, Catching and Fielding – Kevin has been playing and or coaching baseball for the past 28 years. He has taught private hitting, pitching, and catching lessons with Professional Baseball Instruction of Illinois. Kevin played for the Miami Hurricanes in the early 90’s. and for the “Wizard of College Baseball” Ron Fraser and learned catching skills playing behind 4 time National League Gold Glove winner and 2 time National League All-Star, Charles Johnson. “Minor League Baseball Expert” for the Sporting News from 2001-2005. Kevin is currently a talk show host and sports reporter. Kevin Wrote scouting reports on both Major League and Minor League players for Diamond Library publications from 1998-2007.
BRETT FREUND – Hitting and Softball or Baseball Catching – Brett graduated and played two years at Lincoln College. He continued playing for two years at Fontbonne University. He was a starting catcher all four years in college and led the teams Batting Average in 2013. That same year, Brett was elected to SLIAC 2nd team All Conference. In 2014, he was elected to SLIAC All Tournament team. Brett joined the All-Star Instruction staff in 2014.
FERNANDO VILLEGAS– Baseball & Softball Hitting, Fielding & Catching – In 2008, Fernando played in the Little League World Series for Team Mexico as a catcher, where they placed second overall. Fernando attended High School in Hutchinson, MN. During his high school career he was a part of Team Minnesota, where they went 5-0 against other states. He also played on the All Star team in High School. 2014-2016, he attended Iowa Central Community College. He spent his summer in Minnesota playing in the North Woods League playing for the Mankato Moon Dogs. In 2016-2019, he attended Central Methodist University. In 2018, the team won the Heart of America Conference Championship and he was named First Team All-Conference. Fernando furthered his career by playing in the Ohio Valley League. In 2019, he played in the Frontier League for the Gateway Grizzles. He also played professionally for the Pirates Organization, finishing his pro career in June 2019. Fernando was a Mach1 Hitting Student in 2018 and is now an active trainer/coach.
CJ BILBREY – Baseball Hitting, Fielding & Catching – Graduated from Harris-Stowe playing INF/P from 2004-2007. CJ has coached 14 years at college level: North Central CC (2008), Maryville (2009-1012), SIUE (2013), HSSU (2014-2021). He Led HSSU to back to back 30 win seasons in 2017-2018, 88 Academic All-Conference at HSSU, & 12 AMC All-Conference players. In 2013, coached Lewis & Clark Collegiate Summer League Champions and Managed St. Louis Metro Collegiate League (2015-2020). During his coaching years, 16 players have moved to play professionally from Independent Ball and Affiliated Organizations. CJ has been All-Stars Summer Camp Director for five years, coaches 12U Baseball for the Adidas Athletics and is a part of the All-Star instructional staff. CJ recently joined Lindenwoods coaching staff in 2021 and is the assistant Baseball Coach.
MINDY DANIELSON– Softball Hitting – Mindy was the highest ranked softball player that the Mid-West region had seen in the past decade. In 1994 she was the assistant coach for Florissant Valley Jr. College. She was the Head Coach for 14U Missouri Warcats in 2001& the Lead Softball Coach at A Game Sports/Play Ball USA Clinic where she instructed general game techniques to all ages of girls & equipped set up and designed drills for girls to work on techniques of the game. Mindy was a Top Ranked AAA Outfielder for Womens California Jazz Softball Team (only player from Mid West recruited for Southern California Team), Head Coach at St. Charles Community College from 1997-1999(placed 2nd in Region), Outfielder for Decatur Pride & was also invited to the Canada Cup. She was voted most valuable player for multiple games and was the Assistant Coach at Washington University.
KYLIE HESS – Softball Hitting, Catching, Fielding and Pitching -Kylie is currently a senior at Saint Louis University. She was a 3 year varsity player at Fremd High School in Palatine, IL. Kylie received All-Conference and All-Area accolades her senior year. She had the opportunity to travel to Germany and Spain to play softball. Kylie held a head coaching position in 2018 for a 16u Chicago Team and led the team to their most successful season.
COURTNEY KRODINGER – Softball Pitching – Courtney played for the Gamers Fastpitch organization 2011-2015. She graduated from De Soto High School in 2015 and won De Sotos 1st Softball State Title. She played at the University of Northern Iowa and was a 4 Year starter playing second base, center field and Pitcher. Courtney was 2nd team all MVC in 2019 and has been instructing since 2020. Courtney was seasonally with the All-Star Summer Camp Staff over the years. Her goal is to help young athletes reach their full potential on and off the field.
BRITTANY KRODINGER – Softball Hitting, Catching and Fielding – Brittany played for the Gamers Fastpitch organization 2011-2015. Graduated from DeSoto High School in 2015. On the 2014 Class 3 State Softball team 29-4 record. Played short-stop all 4 year of high school. Played select softball for Gamers Fastpitch under Barb Porter, Nicole Krodinger, John Freitag, and Steve Krumrey. Brittany went on to play division one softball at the University of Northern Iowa. She was a utility player and lead off for the panthers. Playing third, second, first, and caught each year learning something new and growing the love for the game more and more. Brittany graduated from Northern Iowa in 2019 with a degree in Exercise Science
